Board of Directors Opportunities
The Board of Directors provides overall direction and guidance to The Health Collective (THC), including formulating policy and raising funds to support the agency.
The three legally defined duties that must be met as the board carries out its governing role are Duties of Care, Loyalty, and Obedience. The Board of Directors is the legal decision-making entity of THC, and board members are responsible for making their decisions.
Duty of Care
Requires that a board member act as any prudent person would in a like circumstance. This requires that a board member be diligent, attentive and informed.
Duty of Loyalty
Requires that a board member act in good faith and in the best interest of the organization. Duty of loyalty ensures procedural safeguards when there is a conflict of interest, such as when a board member is on both sides of a transaction.
Duty of Obedience
Ensures that the organization operates (1) in keeping with the laws and rules governing its formation and status and (2) in accordance with its own bylaws and mission.
The Board of Directors plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting The Health Collective. If you’re interested in governance and strategic leadership, consider joining our board to help shape our future.

Duties and Time Commitment for Clinic Volunteers
Our clinic volunteers typically volunteer at one-two clinic nights per month – about 4 hours. Plan on arriving shortly before 6 pm and leaving between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. We stop accepting new patients after 8:00 pm.
Duties for all providers include abiding by the volunteer handbook, maintaining client confidentiality, complying with all State and Federal laws (including HIPAA, FERPA, and HIV confidentiality laws), acting within the scope of practice, and maintaining professionalism at all times.
